Teens are finicky about what they like and particular about what they'll do with others around. Keep this in mind when planning team building seminars for teens because if they don't like the activities you picked, they won't participate. You should use activities that teach the teens how to work together and take on different roles, including leadership roles. You also want to plan things that they'll find interesting and things that they'll enjoy while they're learning.

    Mafia

    • For mafia, you need to assign different roles to the members of your group. Write out the positions on flashcards, including two mafia cards, a police officer card and a doctor card, with the rest of the cards reading simply "townsperson." Shuffle the cards and let the teens pick one card, which tells them their role in the game. The point of the team building game is to determine which kids are the mafia. The mafia attempt to "off" all the townspeople, and once they determine the other mafia members, they can start working together. The townspeople attempt to survive, while the police officer gathers clues. The teens must work together to find each mafia member before everyone dies. Once a player is "offed" in the game, they take a seat on the sidelines. It's best to play the game outside and let the teens have some freedom to wander off alone or in small groups.

    Blind Obstacle Course

    • Create an obstacle course outside, with different areas that the teens navigate through or around. For example, arrange tires for them to walk through and stack crates in different shapes. Don't let the kids see the obstacle course beforehand, though. Start the activity by arranging the teens into smaller groups and appoint two members of the team as the leaders and blindfold the other teens. The team leaders must work together, giving instructions to guide their members through the obstacle course.

    Survivor

    • Make your own "Survivor" style game by giving the teens a scenario that requires they work together to survive, such as a plane crash or car crash. Arrange a series of items on the ground, including both helpful and non-helpful items. Make a list of the top 10 items you need to survive such a situation. Divide the teens into different groups and ask that they determine the 10 items they need for survival. The teens work together to pick the right items.
