Islamic Powerplay For Ground Zero - Is Sharia Law in Our Future?

103 30
Just two blocks from Ground Zero is where Feisal Abdul Rauf would like to put his 100,000-square-foot mosque.
Standing 15 stories tall -- this building, entitled the Cordoba House -- would include "a 500-seat auditorium, swimming pool, art exhibition spaces, bookstores, restaurants," as well as an Islamic prayer area, says the Cordoba Initiative and the American Society of Muslim Advancement (ASMA).
But what is most worrying about this power stance on U.
S.
soil is Rauf's beliefs that sharia law should be implemented in the United States and the Cordoba House's ambiguous sources financial backing.
While Rauf has dubbed himself the "anti-terrorist," he has not helped his case by refusing to acknowledge Hamas as a terrorist organization, or his role as a leader in the Perdana Global Peace Organization, which was a partner in attempting to penetrate the Israeli naval blockade of Gaza by a Turkish-launched flotilla.
Rauf is the author of, What's Right with Islam, which suggest that the "American Constitution and system of governance uphold the core principles of Islamic law" and therefore the the "American political structure is sharia-compliant.
" In addition, he has promoted his ideas to groups like Hizb ut Thrir, who desires to impose sharia law on countries around the world, including the United States.
And in Britain, where things have gotten far out of control with the Islamic faith, he praised Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, for his advocation of "plural jurisdiction," which would allow Muslim groups in Britain to be governed by a separate set of sharia laws.
But Rauf is mearly a face for this project.
The real estate investment firm behind the Cordoba House is Soho Properties, Inc.
Soho Properties is headed by El-Gamal and his partner, Nour Mousa.
Mousa is nephew of Amr Moussa, the leader of the Arab League, which has recently announced its support of Hamas.
Rauf's wife, Dr.
Farooq Khan, has been an out-spoken promoter of this project as well.
Khan is the executive director of ASMA and former leader of the Westbury Mosque on Long Island, which as the Weekly Standard puts it, "is a center for Islamic radicals and links on its website to the paramilitary Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), the front on American soil for the Pakistani jihadist Jamaat e-Islami.
" With all this information so freely available, state attorney general Andrew Cuomo and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, still refuse to investigate further from fear of offending religion or more possibly, fear of not being re-elected.
