Planning your Wedding Day on a Timeline
For planning a typical wedding, this would consist of the following:
1. A Marriage Ceremony at 12:00pm
2. Photos with the bridal party between 1:30-4:00pm
3. Reception at 6pm - 11pm
If you are of an Asian Culture like we are, you might even have a Tea Ceremony between 9am - 11am.
By using these 3 or 4 main milestones during the day, you should be able to have an estimate on what you need to do.
Here are some other things to take into consideration during the day:
1. Time it takes to travel between each venue. The most important is the travel time between your home and the Marriage Ceremony. You want to have this time as precise as possible. Nothing irritates your Guests like a wedding that is 1 hour later because you haven't planned it properly. Plus this could have a snowball effect on your events during the day. One suggestion is if your wedding is on a Saturday, try driving between all the venues a few Saturdays before. This should give you a good indication of how busy the traffic is.
2. You have to plan your Reception with speeches, music, performances or anything else you would like. Space it out. Tell the venue when you would like the entre, mains and deserts to come out.
3. Don't have people eating food the same time you are doing the speeches. This decreases the attention from your guests, and you want to thank them all and want to make sure they all hear it.
4. For the bride, please plan your mornings for make-up etc. as this is one of the most easiest ways to go overtime and make everyone else wait for you. Sure, less than 30 minutes late is okay, as is expected for your biggest day, but don't go overboard with this.
