Have you always imagined yourself becoming an entrepreneur and owning your own business? Are you a stay-at-home mom or just looking to create an extra stream of income? Maybe a direct sales company might be the perfect fit for you.
I would like to share some tips and an example taken from my personal experience that will get you moving forward in the right direction to making the right decision.
You need to do the research and become familiar with potential business opportunities narrowing the choices to those that might be a good fit.
Ask yourself, "What companies are in line with my background, experience, or passion in life? For example, I have a passion for personal development and have read more self help books than I can count.
So, I started looking for companies that represent products that I believe in that have real personal meaning.
I thought if I did that, it would give me an advantage because I know I would come across to customers as sincere, enthusiastic and genuinely enjoy selling the products.
The next step is to learn some information about the company and its leaders.
Has the company withstood the test of time? Do the products and sales give a sense of predictable results? Who are the leaders, and what are their accomplishments, mission, and vision? Next, write down three reasons why you feel that a particular company might be the right fit for you.
For example, the company I chose offered free training and support.
I learned more about what was included in the training and found that it would certainly add to my confidence and boost my level of success.
I also would have the flexibility of structuring my work time to my schedule.
Most direct sales companies have an initial investment for joining the company, and I felt the fee was within my budget.
Additionally, it also included an affiliate link to the website so that it would give me the freedom to do some online networking.
Finding out exactly what the compensation plan is and agreeing on it should be done right up front.
Obviously, this is a very important consideration.
How much money will you make? What is the commission percentage? Finally, write out a detailed description of what you envision your success to be.
Here is mine: To take the time every day striving toward the success of this business by having persistence and determination, a focused vision, unlimited imagination, unleashed creativity, strong will, great tenacity, unbridled passion, and a powerful desire to be of service to others reaching my own potential, goals, and dreams while empowering others to do the same.
Doing the research, asking the burning questions, and writing the business vision for success will put you well on your way to making the right decision.
