- 1). Allow plants to dry out slightly between watering. The top 1 to 2 inches of soil should feel dry to the touch before you water again.
- 2). Remove any excess water from the tray under the plant’s pot. Still water is breeding ground for mosquitoes.
- 3). Move any water sources that are near the plant, such as pet water bowls or indoor fountains.
- 4). Close all the windows and doors to your house. Install screens if you don’t have them. Only keep doors and windows open if they have screens.
