- 1). Water your fruit tree everyday for the first two weeks. A transplanted fruit tree is susceptible to shock. Water helps lower the chances of the plant going into shock.
- 2). Water your plant once a week after the first two weeks. Continue to water your plant once a week for the next year, excluding any time when your tree is dormant. The dormant stage usually occurs during the cold season; your plant's leaves will fall off.
- 3). Pay close attention to the tree soil. Soil that is too wet can inhibit the growth of the roots just as much as soil that is too dry. Keep your soil moist, but not soaked.
- 4). Water your newly planted fruit trees in the afternoon. Once the heat of the day has subsided, your tree roots able to benefit more fully from the water you provide. If you water during the hottest part of the day, your water may evaporate before your tree's roots can absorb a healthy amount of the water.
