"The Sims 2: University" Hairstyles
- Hairstyles added with the "University" expansion pack include a cap-and-tassel symbol in the corner of the object icon to differentiate them from the base game items or those from other expansion packs. The "University" pack adds six new male hairstyles, two of which are specific to the young adult age group and cannot be used on adult or elder Sims. The pack also adds five new female styles to your game, one of which is specific to the young adult age group and cannot be used on adult or elder Sims.
- The six new male hairstyles include a short cut with a baseball cap, a bowl cut reminiscent of a monk, short hair covered by a bandana and short hair with the top formed into a peak for a quasi-punk look. Male college Sims who prefer long hair can wear it in a tidy pony tail at the back of their heads or hanging straight down, parted in the middle. The five new female hairstyles include a short, wavy bob, a punk rocker spiked-all-over look that resembles a sea urchin and a pixie cut with spiky bangs. The female college Sim can also wear a baseball cap with a short pony tail at the back or another short style with a small pony tail slightly off to the side, on top of her head.
- The Create-a-Sim tool allows you to create new Sims from scratch. The tool contains options for age, skin tone, facial features, hair and clothing as well as personality traits. In regular Sim neighborhoods the tool label reads "Create A Familiy." In the college neighborhoods, the tool reads "Create a Student." The young adult age group is only available in the "University" neighborhoods. After installing "University," the new young adult hairstyle options appear in Create-a-Sim alongside previously existing hairstyles for adult Sims. Young adult Sims can wear adult hairstyles if they wish.
- Just like human college students, young adult Sims don't necessarily need to keep the same hairstyle all the way through college. The mirror object in a Sim dorm room allows you to change your Sim's hairstyle as many times as you like. Click the mirror once and choose the command "Change Appearance" to activate the Create-a-Sim tool within the active game. There you can choose a new hairstyle for your Sim. If you click on a dresser object in the game, the command "Plan Outfit" allows you to change your Sim's clothing to coordinate with the new hairdo if desired.
