GE Concord 4 Installation Instructions
- 1). Choose a location for the Concord's control panel. GE recommends that the panel be close to the door entrance you use most in the home. The company also recommends that it be within 6 feet of an electrical outlet and phone line.
- 2). Mount the control panel onto the wall. Begin mounting the control panel by sliding off the front protective cover. Punch out the indented circle at the bottom of the panel. Pull all wires inside the panel through the new hole. Place and hold it against the wall where you'll mount it. Place a level on the top of the panel to check alignment. Trace an outline of the mounting holes above and below the Concord panel. Take the control panel off the wall.
- 3). Insert screws into the control panel mounting holes. Drill 1/4-inch holes into the spaces you marked with pencil. Place the control panel onto wall again, and line up the panel's anchors with the holes. Drill the screws included with the installation kit into the anchors. Wiggle the control panel with your hand to make sure it's secure. Tighten the screws with the power drill if necessary.
- 4). Connect the power wires to the electrical outlet. The Concord 4 requires a transformer to provide the power it needs. Wrap the red and black wires inside the control panel around the small lugs at the bottom of the transformer. The lugs will be color-coded to match the wire they require. Plug the transformer into the electrical outlet and turn on the control panel by pressing the "On/Off" button. The control panel will start up. Unplug the transformer from the outlet.
- 5). Connect the phone line to the control panel router. Find the nearest phone line jack to the panel. Unscrew the protective cover surrounding the jack and remove it from the wall. Place the new RJ31X jack onto the wall. Drill screws into the holes to secure the jack. The RJ31X allows the security system to override all activity on the phone lines and report a break-in to the authorities.
- 6). Install sensors in all windows and doorways. Each entry point will require two sensors. Concord sensors each have a sticky side to them. Peel off the covering from the sticky side of the sensor and place it on the edge of the door. Now place another sensor lined up with the first sensor on the door frame. The same procedure applies to windows. Repeat this step until you've covered all windows and doors.
- 7). Plug in the power transformer into the outlet. Press the control panel's "On/Off" button. The control panel should automatically recognize the sensors and begin activating them.
