How to Make Hair Curly in a Few Hours
- 1). Wash hair with a shampoo tailored to your hair type. Skip conditioning because it will weigh your hair down and may dissemble any curls during the day. Blot your hair to remove moisture with a towel and apply a hair detangler to your damp tresses. Use a wide-tooth comb to work through your wet strands to remove any tangles.
- 2). Apply a heat-protectant spray to your hair if you plan to blow dry your tresses. The spray will combat against heated styling tools such as the hairdryer, hot rollers or curling irons along with ultraviolet rays. Comb through your hair to distribute the product evenly.
- 3). Dry your hair, if you prefer, for faster curls. To dry hair accurately, separate hair horizontally and secure the top half of your hair with a hair clip. Dry the bottom half by holding the hairdryer 5 inches from your hair and pulling hair downward with a paddle brush. Release the top section of your hair and repeat the process with the top half until your hair is completely dry.
- 4). Pick your curling tools to use to add curl to your strands. You can use hot rollers, Velcro rollers or a curling iron on dry hair. Wet hair is limited to Velcro rollers only to prevent hair damage.
- 5). Roll hair in hot rollers by pulling a 2-inch section of hair from your bang area. Comb the section of hair upward to remove any tangles, and apply a pea-size amount of styling cream to the section of hair. Wrap the tip of the hair around the hot roller and slowly roll the curler downward until it reaches your scalp. Pin the roller to the scalp. Repeat the process of sectioning hair and rolling with the remainder of the top of the head. Once you finish the top section, move to the back and sides. Lightly spray the curlers with hairspray and keep them on your head for up to 30 minutes or until the rollers cool.
- 6). Use Velcro rollers the same way you apply hot rollers. Dry hair will take up to 45 minutes to form into curls; however, wet hair can take as long as two hours to form. Remove the Velcro curlers once the hair dries completely.
- 7). Fix any loose curls with a curling iron. Place the section of hair into the curling iron, between the clamp and barrel, and roll upwards to the scalp. Release the clamp and slide the barrel out of the hair.
- 8). Brush through your hair to blend curls together. Spray lightly with hairspray to hold the curls throughout the day.
