- 1). Unplug the washing machine from the electrical wall outlet.
- 2). Remove the screws from the top of the cabinet. You may need to refer to the operator's manual to locate the screws. Generally, the screws will be in the corners of the depressed area where the lid closes.
- 3). Lift the cabinet top off. Pull the top forward and then up. This will slide the top sleeve out from under the control panel.
- 4). Locate the plastic lid switch under the cabinet top. Remove the old switch. The switch will be a clip style or a U-shaped connection depending on the model machine. Pay attention to how the switch connections, you will need to install the new switch the same way. With U-shaped connections, remove the screws holding the switch into place.
- 5). Install the switch by attaching the connections from the old switch. Reattach any screws necessary to secure the switch.
- 6). Replace the top cabinet. Set the lid down and slide it backward so the lip pushes under the control panel.
- 7). Secure the cabinet with the screws and plug the machine back into the outlet. Turn the machine on and test the switch.
