Why Migraine Pills Don"t Work, And What To Do About It
We all know that pills come with side effects.
All of the 100+ medications that are being used for migraine prevention (Beta Blockers, Calcium Channel blockers, Antihistamines, Antidepressants, Muscle relaxants, etc) have side effects.
Even the apparently mild, over the counter painkillers have a lot of side effects.
There is nothing new about that.
But that's not all...
Side effects are not the issue I want to talk to you about.
If migraine medication could offer the chance of a permanent migraine cure without having to rely on a bunch of pills every day, I know I would take my chances on the possible side effects.
But it doesn't.
It only temporarily relieves the pain and masks the symptoms of a much deeper issue, allowing it to grow and develop and making it harder and harder for you to actually treat it.
Let me explain...
What you need to do if you are going to cure any condition is get to the root of the disease.
If you keep pulling a dandelion out by its leaves, you are not going to get very far.
Let's use a common cold as an example.
If you have a cold and you go to the doctor complaining about a runny nose, you are most likely going to get an antibiotic along with a nasal decongestant.
But what happens when you treat a symptom like a runny nose by taking a decongestant? Well...
it certainly decongests you by shutting off the mucus, but why do you have the mucus? Because your body is trying to clean and wash out the membranes using a substance called secretory IgA (a very strong antibody) to kill the virus.
In other words, the mucus is your protection mechanism.
You need a constant stream of it in order to get rid of and prevent an infection.
In almost all cases, if you treat a symptom you are going to make the disease worse.
The symptom is there as your body's attempt to heal itself.
Ok, but what about the antibiotic? That will help, won't it? Well, no.
In almost all cases of an upper respiratory infection, it is a virus, and the antibiotic is going to do worse than nothing, because it is going to kill the bacterial flora in the gut and impair the immune system, making the immune system worse.
We are breathing viruses every day; right now we are breathing viruses, cold viruses and rhinoviruses.
So why doesn't everybody catch a cold tomorrow? It is because the environment.
Your body has to be receptive to that virus.
Only if your immune system is depressed will it allow that virus to take hold.
So, the real root cause is the depressed immune system! And, the only possible complete cure is whatever you need to do in order to get that immune system up and running at maximum power.
And...
just as that medication won't actually cure the cold and won't make it any harder for you to catch a cold in the future, no migraine pills can help you actually cure your condition and stop your suffering once and for all.
As counter intuitive as it sounds, what you actually have to do is STOP taking migraine pills and start listening to your body.
I'm sure it won't be easy, but you will never know if your pain is a rebound effect from the pills or a real warning signal, until you stop taking them for a while.
If your pain is unbearable you can try slowly taking a more natural approach towards masking the symptoms while lessening the dosage.
But if you ever want to stop your suffering once and for all and end your migraines forever, you need to unmask the symptoms and look for your root causes.
