How to Save Seeds From an Ornamental Purple Majesty Millet
- 1). Cut strips of cheesecloth that are 8 inches wide and 15 inches longer than your ornamental purple majesty's seed heads.
- 2). Wrap the strips into 3-inch-wide tubes.
- 3). Secure the top of the tube with a twist tie.
- 4). Place the tube, free-end first, over the top of the seed head. Wait until the seed heads are mature and they start attracting birds.
- 5). Secure the bottom of the tube with a twist tie. Tie it securely, but not tight enough to constrict the stem.
- 6). Wait for the seeds to mature, fall off and collect in the bottom of the muslin cover.
- 7). Collect the seeds and place in a seed envelope, then in a glass container with a silica gel packet. Place the seeds in a cool, dry place until you are ready to plant in spring.
