"You Should Care What Other People Think," He Said

Why are folks so worried about what everyone else thinks? Why is everyone trying so hard to fit in? Indeed, I ask; why are all these folks running to join the Borg? The other day, someone told me that since I didn't care what one group of people thought, it showed my inability to understand their perspective.
Okay so, let's pit this comment against a logical argument.
If someone doesn't care what one group of people's conclusion on a certain topic happens to be, that doesn't mean they don't understand their points of contention, or haven't reviewed those talking points.
Consider, that one doesn't care what the 99% thinks with regards to the value of reality TV shows, does that mean the 99% is correct, and the one or 1% is wrong? No, just as 99% once believed the world was flat, it was the one who stood up and said you are all wrong, and he was right.
There are endless historical examples, thus, I disregard the charge that someone who disagrees with the politically correct line of thought has the inability to understand both sides of the argument.
Copernicus certainly understood what the 99% meant when they said the world was flat, and he also knew they were flat-wrong, right? It's a good thing Copernicus stood up and didn't care what everyone else thought isn't it? Personally, I was not moved by my acquaintance's attempt to get me to meld to the mindless masses, and I retorted; "I also don't care what 99% of the folks that live in Vatican think either if it makes you feel any better, what they think doesn't make them right.
The concept that the majority must be right is illogical and you know it.
If you don't like that then go join Facebook and go with the mindless masses, and wisdom of the brain dead.
" You see, the argument for the "wisdom of the crowds" is not always so wise.
In a literal sense it is amazing how absolutely out of control crowds can get and how easily they can reach a flash point during riots, beware the mob of humanity is a common thought for those who have witnessed it in action.
Bubbles in markets are also caused by the feeding frenzy of such wisdom, and one has to ask how come the masses or the 99% can't see it? Sometimes the crowds are blind, so it's important to understand what they think, but not very wise to follow them, or care to buy into it.
Please consider all this.
