How to Make Delicious Pain au Chocolate and Spinach and Cheese Croissants
- 1). Croissants are delicious but not always healthy. To make them healthy and delicious here are some really good recipes that I use, which is cheating but nevertheless delicious and healthy!
- 2). For chocolate croissants or pain au chocolate as it is known in France (these are what we call chocolate croissants and many call chocolate bread, it is literally translated as chocolate bread but the dough used is crossaint dough), the recipe is simple. Take the Pillsbury crossaint and open it carefully! (These tend to be hard to open without destroying at least one). If you are concerned about the "shape" then be careful to break them off at the indentations. Lay them all out on a piece of foil on a baking sheet. For the pain au chocolate (chocolate croissants) do as follow: Break off small rectangles of a dark chocolate bar,(use dark chocolate as this has healthy phenol antioxidants like red wine and is very healthy and when cooked not as bitter). Place the rectangles within the unfolded croissant batter. Fold and bake! Eat them after you have baked as they are best hot or you can keep them covered and warm them in a toaster for about two minutes on 300 or a microwave for about 10 seconds!
- 3). For spinach and feta cheese croissants this is also quite easy. Take some leaves of spinach and place them on the unfolded croissant dough, they will cook with the croissant. Place on top of the leaves, some feta cheese. Fold and cook. Follow the same instructions as above for delicious and healthy croissants!
