How to Wire a 230V Steam Shower GFI Breaker
- 1). Turn off the main breaker. Locate two open spaces inside the breaker panel, for the GFCI breaker, that are side by side. Plug the GFCI breaker into these spaces. Knock out the filler blanks covering the breaker, if needed. Attach the ground wire coming from the steam unit to the ground bar, where all of the copper and green wires connect, inside the breaker panel.
- 2). Attach the white neutral wire coming out of the GFCI breaker casing to the neutral bar, where all of the white wires connect, inside of the panel box. Attach the neutral coming from the steam unit to the load neutral connection on the breaker, referring to the sticker on the breaker for the location of the connections. If your steam unit doesn't have a neutral the load neutral connection on the breaker should be left empty or capped with a wire nut.
- 3). Attach the two hot wires coming from the steam unit to the two hot connections on the breaker. Again, refer to the sticker on the breaker for the connection locations. Turn the main breaker back on. Turn the GFCI breaker on only after the other end has been connected to the steam unit.
