- 1). Start by opening up a new document in Microsoft Paint and size it to fit the layout you are going to create for your web page. Decide how you want your layout themed. Once you have a basic idea of how you want the page to look, collect pictures that fall under that theme. Start with your background, naming the background layer to help keep track of the different parts of your layout. Now fill the background with your backdrop color or insert a picture that you wish to use as your back drop.
- 2). Use the rectangle selector to set a large rectangle at the top of your page. This rectangle will serve as a marking for your banner. Once you have your banner sized to your liking go into the layer styles tool to add a boarder effect to the banner. Add an image to your banner, perhaps a picture centered on whatever theme you want your web page to have, or a solid color that'll contrast with your background. If you want to add text to your banner, use the text marquee tool to add a title or other text to your banner.
- 3). Add text boxes and for any buttons you want on the page. If you want you can add separate images for each of the buttons. Use your rectangular tool to select where the clickable buttons will sit against your background. Use the layer tool like you did to make the banner and add the buttons on top of your background layer. Once you have the layers separated you can add unique features to each of the buttons. Add images to the buttons, using a theme geared toward whatever website or link to where you are sending your viewers. Use your texting marquee to add text fields over the images you placed in your buttons to label each button.
- 4). Finally, add your finishing touches to the layout. Make sure that all of your layers align correctly. Once you have everything saved correctly upload the custom made layout to your website and immediately test everything you can to make sure that all buttons and coding work as you wanted it to.
