• The cheapest baby shower centerpiece is the one that doubles as a gift. Diaper cakes are often seen at baby showers. Diaper cakes are also relatively easy to make, by keeping each layer of diapers tightly rolled with rubber bands and held together with ribbon.
  
  Fill a baby tub with bath items, and set it prominently in the center of the gift table. This is a fun idea, because it's a chance for everyone to share the cost. Simply tell guests ahead of time to bring one bath item to place in the tub/centerpiece. By the time everyone arrives, this centerpiece will be a favorite gift.
  
  

Small Treasures

• Using small alphabet blocks is a creative way to accent a table. These can be purchased at most dollar stores. Stack the blocks in a circle or square tower. Top with pink or blue (or both) ribbon. Consider setting votive candles in small candleholders on the stack of blocks for a more pronounced look.
  
  As you're planning the baby shower, stop by local yard sales to pick up baby rattles. These rattles can be tied together with ribbons and used as a centerpiece that fulfills a dual purpose. The centerpiece of rattles can also anchor pink and blue helium balloons.
  
  

Gift Bags & Boxes

• One centerpiece you can put together with little expense involves little more than empty gift boxes. If you know the gender of the baby, buy gift boxes from the dollar store, and wrap them in pale blue or pink wrapping paper. Stack these from largest to smallest in the center of the table. Wrap each box with a large ribbon. The top box can be a gift that includes baby wipes or other small items.
  
  A similar arrangement can be made with small gift bags. Most dollar stores have a wide assortment of baby shower gift bags, making this centerpiece fun to put together. Place 6 to 10 bags in the center of the table. Stuff each gift bag with coordinating tissue paper and curly ribbon. The entire arrangement can be completed for less than $15.
