    • 1). Place the aquarium onto a flat surface outside. You will use the aquarium as a control area to station the tornado.

    • 2). Cut out a 2-inch hole in the bottom of the plastic dish for use in later steps.

    • 3). Line the bottom of the small dish with hot glue. Bond the small dish to the center of the wood panel. Place the wood panel into the center of the aquarium.

    • 4). Stand the first vinyl sheet on its side. Bond the first 1/4 of the sheet onto the right side of the dish. Form the remaining 3/4 of the sheet into a wide half circle going around the cup. Bond the bottom edge of the sheet to the wood.

    • 5). Repeat step two with the second vinyl sheet for the opposite side of the dish. Make sure the two sheets overlap, but don't touch. The two sheets should resemble a letter "S" once they are attached to the dish. Form a 7-inch diameter at the widest point of the "S."

    • 6). Line one cup of loose dust, dirt or sand on the wood panel, in the half circle of one of the sheets. Line the second half circle with the additional cup of loose dust, dirt or sand. Be sure to wear a dust mask.

    • 7). Pour the water into the dish.

    • 8). Slide on rubber gloves and safety glasses. Place the dry ice into the dish.

    • 9). Flip the plastic dish upside down. Fit the dish over the top of the vinyl sheets.

Flip on the fan. Turn the fan so the propellers are facing upwards. Place the fan on top of the plastic dish, at center, and back away. Watch the tornado form and swirl upwards out of the aquarium.
