Hi, my name is Arthur Ingraham. I'm a licensed insurance agent. Today, we're going to be discussing what to include in an auto insurance claim. When you have an auto insurance claim, the good news is, you likely won't be filing it yourself. The company will assign you a claims adjuster, and they'll be kind of a case manager for the claim that you are in. And what they will do is they'll come out; they'll inspect the damages to the property, if applicable. They'll inspect the damages to bodily injury, and if that's applicable, and they'll kind of compile all of that data. They'll get the police report, kind of showing who's at fault in the accident, and kind of go from there collecting medical visit receipts, collecting estimates for repairs to property damage. So, kind of to aid this process, what I recommend is keeping all of your receipts on hand, keeping all of your estimates filed. And, as a side note, you can get estimates wherever you choose, even though you may be recommended to go to a certain repair facility. As the consumer, it's up to you to determine where you want your car repaired. So, you can gather estimates from more than one place, if you like. And then you take these and you submit them to the claims adjuster, and they kind of will help you walk through this process. So, in order to file an insurance claim, you're going to want to call your agent or your insurance company, and let them know. And so, basically, the process is kind of automated for you, but the best advice that I can give you is to be patient and to collect all the data that you can, and keep records of it, as well as the claim adjuster's name, phone number, and your case number or claim number. Again, my name is Arthur Ingraham. I'm a licensed insurance agent, and today we discussed how to file an insurance claim.
