    • 1). Cut four 3 1/2-foot-long 2-by-4 inch boards, four 3-foot-long 2-by-4 boards, and four 1-foot-by-9-inch long 2-by-4 boards. Then assemble them in a box frame.

    • 2). Cut two 3-by-2 foot plywood sheets for the tabletop and bottom shelf. Attach one to the top of the box frame and then cut out the corners to fit the second one inside the box frame on top of the four bottom 2-by-4 boards. Use galvanized wood screws or nails.

    • 3). Cut two 2-by-3 1/2 foot sheets for the side walls, and then one 3-by-3 1/2 foot sheet for the back. Attach these to the frame using wood screws or nails again.

    • 4). Cut one 3-foot-long 2-by-4 board in half and screw this to the backside of the tabletop. This is a guide to keep fish from sliding off the back. You can also use it to hold fish in place while you fillet.

    • 5). Cut one more 3-foot-by-3 1/2 foot piece of plywood for the door. Fit hinges to the sides and then check to make sure they fit inside the door.

    • 6). Lightly sand the plywood sheets with 120-grit sandpaper. Then prime the entire box with normal primer. Sand lightly again. Then apply a thick coat of marine-grade paint, inside and out. On the tabletop portion, you can sprinkle sand onto the tabletop after you paint on your first layer, then paint over it for a gritty, slip-resistant surface.

    • 7). Prime and paint your door, then attach it to the front of the fillet station.
