• Black and white weddings are often associated with a modern aesthetic, but the dramatic contrast between the two colors works for many other styles. When softened up with touches of pale colors or soft, gauzy fabrics, a black and white theme can be quite romantic. • White flowers of one variety or another are always in season. Popular blooms include the orchid, rose, lily, gardenia, hydrangea, daisy, sweet pea and baby's breath. Very deep purple or brown is likely to be the closest you'll get to black flowers, short of dyeing them. Two very fashionable near-black flowers are the dahlia and tulip.
