    Apples

    • Apples trees are available in several sizes ranging in height from 5 feet to 30 feet tall. Many apples require cross-pollination, so planting several varieties in the same orchard is ideal. Apple varieties recommended for zones 6 and 7 include Arkansas Black, Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious and Granny Smith.

    Pears

    • Pear trees are generally divided into two categories, including European pears and Asian pears. European pears produce softer, juicy fruits while Asian pears feature a texture similar to apples. All Asian and some European varieties must be cross pollinated with another variety of pear. Ideal varieties for zone 6 and 7 include Bartlett, Bosc, Orient and Potomac Pears.

    Peaches

    • Peaches grow best in sunny orchards with well-drained soil. For an ideal peach harvest, it is necessary to trim interior branches so the sun penetrates all areas of the tree. The Nature Hills Nursery recommends varieties for zones 6 and 7 including Honey Babe, Frost, Loring, O'Henry and the Polly White Peach.
