    Greatest Commandments Shirts

    • The believer has a command to love God and love others. Illustrate the concept on a shirt using a triangle, three hearts and four words. Draw a triangle as three line segments with arrows at the both ends of the line segments. Place a heart at the end of each of the arrowed line segments. Write “God” in the heart at the apex of the triangle. Write “Me” in the triangle on the left and “Others” in the triangle on the right. Write “Love” in the center of the triangle. Add other decorative flourishes to the shirt, if you desire. This craft is appropriate for ages 6 and above.

    Love Key Chains

    • Use a 12-inch length of plastic cord, alphabet beads and a split ring to create a key chain ornament. Fold the cord in half and insert the fold into the center of the split ring. Thread the ends of the cord into the cord fold and pull them through to create a slip loop around the split ring. Use the alphabet beads to spell “Love God” and “Love Others.” String the beads in reverse and tie a knot on the end of each cord. This craft is appropriate for ages 6 to 10.

    Loving First Aid Kits

    • In Luke 10:25-37, Jesus affirms the same Scriptures he addresses in Matthew 22. He tells the story of the Good Samaritan to give context to loving your neighbor. A craft based on that depiction could build a first aid kit to remind you of concrete ways to love your neighbor. Place a large red cross on the top of your first aid kit with “Love” written at the point where the crosspiece of the cross meets the vertical piece. Write “God” at the top of the vertical shaft and “me” and “others” written at the ends of the horizontal crossbar. Use the supplies you stock in the kit to provide tangible loving service to others. This craft is appropriate for ages 6 and above.

    Love Collages

    • When Jesus finishes the story of the Good Samaritan, the lawyer understands that he must show compassion and mercy to others to fulfill the second commandment. A craft for children to teach loving God and loving others places a large cross on a sheet of paper. Write “Love God” above the cross and “Love Others” on the horizontal crosspiece. Glue pictures of people from all walks of life, races and appearances all around the cross. At the bottom of the cross write, “These are my neighbors.” This craft is appropriate for ages 6 to 10.
