How to Replace the Gasket in a Kenmore Elite Dishwasher
- 1). Open the dishwasher door and pull the end of the gasket away from the gasket channel. If necessary, us a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry the gasket out of the channel.
- 2). Grasp the gasket and pull firmly to remove it from the door. Discard the old gasket.
- 3). Place the new gasket in a bucket full of warm water. Allow the gasket to remain in the water for several minutes to soften the rubber, which makes it more pliable.
- 4). Remove the gasket from the water, and then locate the center of the gasket, which is marked with a red dot.
- 5). Align the center of the gasket with the door latch at the top of the dishwasher. Push the gasket firmly into the gasket channel.
- 6). Push the entire gasket into the gasket channel, until it is fully inserted.
- 7). Close and latch the dishwasher door. Avoid opening the door for several hours to allow the gasket to mold to the shape of the gasket channel, which ensures a watertight seal.
