With so many dangers present in today's world, you can never be too careful.
There are a lot of articles with safety tips for women.
I consistently read as many as I can.
Although much of the information is repetitive, it does bear repeating.
Every once in awhile, I learn a new tip that I had never thought of.
Here are 8 safety tips.
Like me, you may have read many of them before, but read on.
You may just learn something that will save your life.
  1. As women, we are created to be empathetic.
We have a tendency to not want to offend anyone.
We would rather nurture a situation and see if it gets better.
The problem is that this conduct can get you raped, or killed.
Serial killer Ted Bundy, was a good-looking, well educated man.
He preyed on the sympathetic nature of unsuspecting women.
He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked for help into his vehicle or with his vehicle.
This is how he abducted his victims.
    It's okay to offend someone.
So what if the other person thinks you are paranoid? They don't know you and their opinion of you has no bearing on your life or your safety.
  2. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, do everything you can to kick out the back tail lights.
Stick your arm or leg out the hole and start waving like crazy.
The driver won't be able to see you, but everybody else will.
    This technique has saved lives.
  3. If your assailant has a gun and you can get away from him, RUN! A still target is not as easy to hit as television and movies make it seem.
A moving target is even harder to hit.
It is best if you run in a zig zag motion.
If you do get hit, it is less likely that it will be a lethal wound.
  4. Unless there is a fire, take the elevator instead of the stairs.
While climbing stairs may be good for your cardiovascular workout, it is a hot spot for crime.
  5. Use whatever you can to fight back.
If you have a self defense weapon such as a stun gun, keep it handy and ready to use.
If you do not have one, then use what you can, including whatever part of your body you can make contact with.
Head butts, elbow thrusts and heel spikes are all good options.
  6. If a mugger asks for your wallet, purse, or other personal belonging, don't just hand it to him.
Toss it away from your body and run in the other direction.
Chances are the thug is more concerned about getting your money than pursuing you.
  7. When you get in your car in a mall or store parking lot, don't just sit there.
Checking your makeup or fiddling with the radio, can make you a sitting target.
Start your car and get going.
You can always make any adjustments you need in a safer location.
    Remember, predators watch their prey.
  8. If someone does manage to get in the car with you and has a gun to your head you don't have to follow his demand to go to a location he has chosen.
Instead, making sure your seat belt is on, speed up and purposely wreck your car into a stationary object.
Your airbag will deploy and your chances of survival are still better than being abducted by a maniac.
It sounds counter intuitive, but this move has saved lives.
Not sure which self defense weapon to carry? The new Stun Master Lil Guy 7.
5 million volt stun gun is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, but powerful enough to disable an attacker.
Above all, be aware of your surroundings and don't assume it can't happen to you.
