103 14
As more people start turning to renewable energy solar lighting has become quite popular.
Because there is a greater demand we are now seeing more types and styles of solar lights available making it easier to find those that will fit your needs.
One of these types is the solar shed light.
This light is perfect for certain uses, but before you choose one you may want to know a little more about the benefits and drawbacks of this type of lighting.
Benefits of Solar Shed Lights One of the main benefits of solar lights is that they don't need to be wired to an electrical source.
This makes them easier and less expensive to install, but it also means they will be less expensive to use on a regular basis.
In fact, once you purchase the light itself it won't cost anything to use.
Because they don't need to be wired they are easy to install almost anywhere.
They work well if you have a large lot or live out in the country and you have an unwired structure you want to add light to.
You can use them for a shed, barn, boat house or a greenhouse just to name a few examples.
These units are typically easy to install and they usually provide up to 2 hours of light when fully charged.
Some even have a built in nightlight that makes the switch easier to find in the dark.
They use energy-efficient LED bulbs which use less energy than a regular incandescent bulb with less energy usage.
Drawbacks of Solar Shed Lights Solar lights work better in certain geographic areas where there is regularly more sun.
If the solar battery isn't fully charged you may not be able to get as many hours of light from it, plus the light may not be very bright in this instance.
Overall you may not get the level of brightness you can achieve with lighting connected to electricity.
Models that have an added nightlight to help find the on/off switch will require batteries, so there is a small added cost and maintenance consideration with those models.
Granted the different brands and types of solar shed lights will vary a bit but these are things to research and consider before making a purchase.
