Bahamas Tourism Survey Reveals Guests are Happy to Travel to Destination Weddings
Nowadays more couples than ever are dreaming of exotic locations for their nuptials and it seems that wedding guests are more than happy to accept invitations to a tropical ceremony abroad.
According to a recent survey carried out by the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, 78 per cent of American wedding guests are happy to accept invitations for weddings abroad, and 56 per cent of these consider them to be better value for money than traditional weddings at home.
As more engaged couples plan weddings in the Bahamas, this is good news for both brides and grooms and the island nation's tourism sector.

The research revealed that 45 per cent of the survey's participants preferred to attend a destination weddingwhere the ceremony takes place in a tropical beach setting.
Many couples are under the impression that their invited guests will not want to spend the money on travelling far to a wedding abroad but the survey revealed that 53 of its respondents are willing to travel for up to five hours and 25 per cent would spend at least £1,000 to get to the wedding. Notice was the main thing that guests require and 73 per cent said they would need between one and three months advance notice.

Couples planning destination weddings in the Caribbean are spoilt for choice when it comes to selecting a tropical location and the Bahamas has plenty to offer.
Last year, the Bahamas Tourist Board announced a competition where 16 couples would each win weddings in the Bahamas in May this year.
The competition was launched to help raise awareness of some of the lesser-known Bahamian islands, such as the Berry Islands, Mayaguana, Acklins and Crooked Island.
The winners for this competition have already been announced but couples will have another chance to win their dream destination wedding in the Bahamas in the Bahamas Bridal Style Sweepstakes.

As part of the latest competition one lucky winning couple will go island hopping throughout the Bahamas where they will visit several islands and resorts. They will then choose their favourite and this will be where their tropical wedding will take pace. Participating resorts include Sandals Royal Bahamian Spa Resort and Offshore Island on Nassau/Paradise Island; Grand Lucayan, Bahamas on Grand Bahama Island; and Pineapple Fields on Eleuthera in the Out Islands.
