Troubleshooting a Gas Cooktop
- 1). Check your gas supply by inspecting other devices in your house that are gas powered to see if they are working. Make sure the gas valve is open.
- 2). Check that your cooktop is receiving electricity if you have an electric igniter. Make sure it is plugged in. Check the power supply to your home by testing the lights or other electric appliances and also check the circuit that serves the cooktop. In the event of power failure, consult your user manual for directions on how to light the cooktop with a match.
- 3). Check that each burner is assembled correctly, especially if you are having trouble with specific burners.
- 4). Check that each burner and igniter is clean and dry. Be sure to examine the flame holes in the burners to make sure they are not blocked. Remove any residue that has collected between the igniter and the burner.
