How to Hang Stars on the Door Frames Inside the House
- 1). Set up the stepladder or step stool under the doorway. Take the measuring tape, and step up to the door frame carefully.
- 2). Measure above the door frame to ascertain the center point, which is where you will mount the topmost point of the star. Make a small mark with the pencil to record this center point.
- 3). Measure the star to find its width and height to ensure it is centered above the door frame. Record these measurements.
- 4). Mark the outermost points of where you will locate the star above the door frame with the pencil. Measure again to ensure it is centered once mounted.
- 5). Drive a nail into the wall where the star will hang. Make sure it is in a stud or through wood if the star weighs more than drywall can tolerate (about 1/2 lb. or less).
- 6). Hang the star from the nail. Measure again to ensure it is centered, and step back to visually inspect its final mounted location.
- 7). Take the star down, and set it to the side. Erase the pencil marks from the wall gently.
- 8). Mount the star again on the nail. Repeat these steps on any other door frames you wish to mount stars over.
