How to Make Kamut Bread
Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Mix the hot water, yeast, honey, oil, cream of tartar and sea salt together in the mixing bowl. Sprinkle the yeast on the mixture and stir in gently until the yeast dissolves.
2
Add five cups of flour, one at a time. Continue to add flour until the dough begins to form a ball.
3
Put the dough on a floured surface and knead it until it's smooth, which should take about 10 to 15 minutes.
4
Oil the large bowl and put the kneaded dough into the bowl. Turn the dough until it's coated with oil, and cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Let the dough rise until it doubles in size, which will take approximately one hour.
5
Put the dough back on the floured surface and gently knead it until all of the air bubbles are removed.
6
Divide the dough in half and place it in greased bread pans. Allow it to rise again until doubled in size, about 30 to 40 minutes.
7
Bake the kamut bread loaves at 400 degrees for five minutes, and then turn the heat down to 350 degrees. Bake the kamut bread for 25 minutes more.
