5 UP"s - Up Up and Away for a Fabulous Day

"Xscuse me Guruji, what's the meaning of enlightenent and the path of the dharma as it relates to yama and niyama in yoga?" We were sitting in a circle sharing coffee and this was the question a gorgeous blonde angelic looking Californian girl asked the guru..

Before he spoke, we all knew what his answer would be..
..
..
although not always how he was going to say it.
For me his answer always translated to "SU"...
Shut up" Guruji would usually say, "do the practice and all is coming" which, was a nice way of suggesting that knowing something, doesn't mean shit unless you can do it...
I had the same stark reminder from my kayak coach last week.
After a lesson I sent him a list of those things I needed to improve...
his reply, like guruji, was, yeah, great but writing stuff in an email doesn't change much.
There are five UP's we need to remember: 1.
Shut UP Sitting in our Daily Zen for five minutes a day is a good thing to do.
2.
Sit UP Bad posture leads to emotion, cloudy thinking, poor breathing, heavy heart, bad circulation, lost presence, poor memory and constipation..
..
and sexual dysfunction..
..
3.
Put UP Reacting to anything leads to trouble.
Learn to put up a brave face, put up a thank you, and put up with unconsciousness...
you can't change others.
4.
Think UP What you appreciate grows...
so, think up ways to be thankful and think up instead of down.
Nobody really wants to hear whats wrong.
5.
Look UP Really, there's order in the chaos.
The higher you look the more order you see...
and the more order you see, the better leader you become..

So, instead of focussing on the F ups, concentrate on your 5UPS..
